Pieces Matter
Posted on January 17, 2012
Sticking holes in paper, shedding light in the dark, stars appear. A playful approach to revealing, tearing apart and re-contextualizing images by using simple tools as light, paper and pictures.
Through a series of different projection devices the performance constructs a timeline of past memories and present images. The performer guides the audience through this emerging story while reanimating these images and memories. They are toyed with, torn apart, pulled in and out of context, turned upside down and inside out.
Pieces Matter challenges notions dealing with layering, imagery and perspective. It has been a reocurring theme in the choreographers’ artistic interest and shaped into a piece by using different tools of projection. Through the action of projecting the technical devices visualize the way reality is perceived. Projecting as a habit, a constant crafting of expectations, constantly shifted and adapted.
